Born and raised in Moscow.
At school, he was passionate about poetry and studied English literature from Beowulf to Virginia Woolf.
He completed a bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Philology of Lomonosov Moscow State University, where he studied French and German.
He took semester-long courses in the history of cinema at the Faculty of Journalism and in the history of animation at the Higher School of Television.
He completed a master’s degree in Linguistic Theory and Language Description at HSE University, where he focused on comparative-historical linguistics.
He took courses in computer graphics and worked as a compositing artist in film and advertising.
He has listened to countless lectures on cinema and interviews with directors.
He has led more than twenty English-language cinema discussion clubs in Batumi.
