The Autumn Semester 2024 concluded with successful public defenses at Dissident and a ceremonial awarding of Certificates at Social Café, where a large group of Batumi civic activists joined us on New Year’s Eve. It was then that we finally became convinced that Global Nomad University was here to stay, and that we needed to prepare the next semester — the Spring Semester 2025.
Starting in Spring 2025, Nomadic University
is moving to a new level of its educational work, which requires higher standards for course preparation and a full-scale enrollment campaign.
We have raised the requirements for the structure and content of our courses and introduced a procedure for their external review, asking members of our Academic Council to recommend reviewers.
We will also hold mandatory training seminars for Nomadic University lecturers in order to improve the quality of teaching.
We have also raised the requirements for students: to make it easier to choose the topic of the Final Course Project, applicants will indicate their preliminary area of interest directly in the registration form. The course lecturer may help them with this — either in a personal meeting or through correspondence.
This will increase the value and prestige of the Certificates we issue, as well as the significance of the Nomadic University ECTS educational credits awarded, which can be converted into recognized educational credits at other European universities and also submitted as part of an admissions portfolio when applying to master’s and doctoral programs in Europe and the United States.
A mandatory requirement for our courses is that they must be based on solid theoretical knowledge while also providing practical skills that help explain the new reality and offer tools for adapting to it, as well as creating opportunities for professional and personal self-development.
The main target group of Nomadic University remains relocants who were forced to leave their countries because of wars and persecution. However, starting in 2025, we will actively welcome residents of Batumi, other regions of Georgia, and neighboring countries to our courses. We will also expand the number of courses offered in different languages, in particular in English as the language of international communication.
