Course Description

The immune system plays an important role in protecting the body, but traditional Chinese medicine looks at health much more broadly, linking immunity with the overall balance of the body, the state of internal organs, the movement of vital energy Qi and the functioning of the nervous system. For more than two thousand years, Chinese doctors have developed methods of disease prevention based on restoring the natural balance of the body. Many of these approaches are successfully used today as a supplement to modern ideas about health. On the course, you will learn the fundamental principles of traditional Chinese medicine, how it explains the causes of diseases, learn the main acupuncture points, and learn how to apply safe self-help techniques to maintain health and prevent functional disorders. Each lesson lasts 1.5 hours The course is suitable for both medical students and practitioners who want to expand their professional horizons, as well as everyone who is interested in health, disease prevention and active longevity.

Prerequisites
No special medical training is required. The course is designed for both medical specialists and students without medical education. Interest in health issues, willingness to learn new approaches and participate in practical exercises are enough.

Learning Goals
You will be able to get acquainted with the basic principles of traditional Chinese medicine; understand how TCM views immunity and the causes of disease; to study the role of Qi, Yuan Qi and the main energy meridians of the body. Master the location and safe use of the main acupuncture points; learn how to apply simple methods of prevention and maintenance of health; to get acquainted with the influence of the nervous system on the general condition of the body; to gain practical skills that can be used in everyday life.

Learning outcomes
After the course, you will be able to: explain the basic principles of traditional Chinese medicine; understand how TCM interprets immunity and the mechanisms of disease occurrence; find and use basic acupuncture points to maintain health; apply simple methods of prevention and self-help; better understand the relationship between lifestyle, nervous system and body condition; to use the knowledge gained to maintain their own health and help their loved ones within the framework of safe non-drug methods

Class topics

Lesson 1. Basics of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Immunity History and philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine.

The basic principles of the Yellow Emperor School and Dr. Bian Que. What is immunity from the point of view of modern medicine and BMT? What determines the protective ability of the body, where vital energy is formed and how to maintain internal balance.

Lesson 2. Causes of diseases and vital energy Why does a person get sick? External and internal factors that weaken the body.

Allies and enemies of immunity. The relationship between chronic diseases and the general condition of the body. Yuan Qi is the primary life energy. Practical study of the main Yuan points.

Lesson 3. Practical methods of health promotion How lifestyle affects the immune system.

Signs of a decrease in the protective functions of the body. Possibilities of health promotion by means of traditional Chinese medicine. Practical work with Yuan-points and basic preventive techniques.

Lesson 4. Qi, the nervous system and the regulation of the body What is Qi and its importance for human health.

Features of immunity in children and adults. The influence of the autonomic nervous system on the processes of body recovery. Unusual acupuncture points, Du Mai control vessel and their practical application.

Lesson 5. Comprehensive Health Practices Practical methods to support the immune system.


Thirteen significant areas of the face and the most used prophylactic points ("points from a hundred diseases"). Final review of the course, answers to questions and comprehensive practice.

Assessment
The assessment of the mastery of the course by the graduate is carried out in the form of public defense. To participate in it, you need to submit a presentation - 5-7 slides in ppt format, and text abstracts in the amount of 1.5 - 2 pages of text in word / pdf format.
