Course Description
The course gives a holistic understanding of the "digital nomads" of a new social group, based on employment in various professions, allowing you to work remotely, using as a workplace any comfortable space where you can place a personal computer with a good Internet connection. The main focus of the course is on the factors that allow the development of such employment, the basic qualifications that are necessary for the development of such professions, as well as educational opportunities and career trajectories in order to get the necessary education for such specialties, to build career trajectories for consistent development in the profession.

Prerequisites
- Obviously - to best course results, applicant have to be one of digital nomads and experience DN type of life and work
- if this is not the case, the applicant should be planning to become a DN or have a DN as a family member or a close friend, to make course materials relevant to one's experience - to be able to discuss it

Learning Goals

- To show the scale and growth trends of the social group of digital nomads as a labor resource - To comprehend the factors leading to the growth/restraint of the growth of nomads
- To show the connection between the career of digital nomads and education and its new forms and opportunities

Learning outcomes

You will understand the economic and social meaning of such a social group as "digital Nomads", their main characteristics, needs, factors in the formation of this social stratum as a new global labor resource and their contribution to the world economy. You will be able to determine the extent to which you fall into this category and assess how your environment supports opportunities for global professional growth. You will understand the logic of global university education and will be able to develop strategies for both obtaining a "traditional diploma" and its possible replacement with a set of certificates, including digital ones, about "proven skills", authorized by institutions, authoritative in your profession.

Class topics

1. Global migration: major trends in recent decades, IOM studies. Economic incentives, "normal flows" and reasons for "migrant crisis"

2. Migration and identity. Categories of multiple identities. Expats, migrants, relocants, nomads. Russian migrants in Georgia.

3. Global professionals as new economic cluster. Major characteristics and demands.Global nomads and global job market.

4. Global Universities - in USA, Europe and Asia: why are they so prestigious? Is their cost worth it?

5. Diploma for a "profession": how much it connected to 'the best career"? University diploma vs "skill badges" - is it a tendency? The future of the Global Skills Passport.

Assessment

The assessment of the mastery of the course by the graduate is carried out in the form of public defense. To participate in it, you need to submit a presentation - 5-7 slides in ppt format, and text abstracts in the amount of 1.5 - 2 pages of text in word / pdf format.
